 ABOUT BWCC: 

Black Women Connexting Communities is a collective of women creating & using multidimensional media focused on restoring the black community to its original greatness. We empower women to Speak, Connect, Organize & ACT! Women have always been leaders in organizing the black community and BWCC is using media as its vehicle to move the culture!

Ages in the BWCC collective range from 14 years to 60+ years old. There are currently about 20 members. These women have worked in industries such as media, education, technology, cinema, and mental health to name a few.

CaribGem, BWCC Founder & Show Host

With a Bachelor's degree in Audio Production, CaribGem has been the Program Director for W.O.W Radio since it’s inception in 2008, working with Indie artists from across the globe. Prior to joining the W.O.W Radio family, she got her start in Indie media as a programmer and host of Can We Talk! Radio. While there she gained hands-on experience in journalism, audio engineering and social media. In 2015 she partnered with OG Media Productions to create Community Connextionz. This partnership provided multimedia services to community based organizations. In 2018 with a wealth of experience & knowledge in the multimedia industry Carib started CGemSpeaks, LLC which is a company that caters to entrepreneurs & small businesses that need assistance with multimedia, branding, social media, podcasting & more. Out of a deep need of sisterhood & community action, especially after the George Floyd incident, she established Black Women Connexting Communities in June 2020. CaribGem is a mother of 4 -- 3 boys & a girl.

Krys, BWCC Co-Founder & Show Host

Krys aka SmartVideoGirl has held many roles in the multimedia industry since 2007.  She began her career in media as a radio host on Can We Talk! Radio. Krys founded Only Greatness Media Production and is a self-proclaimed content creator because of her ability to create content across multiple mediums. Krys possesses a deep passion for the community and has a philanthropist heart. She aims to inspire and inform the community through her work. She has served with several grassroots organizations such as Sistas United, Inc., Goodie Girls Bags, The SOCKS movement, and Domestic Violence Wears Many Tags just to name a few. She is a very active member of her community and participates in many community outreach programs as well as mentoring and educating youth in the field of media. Krys is the mother of a 9 year-old son and 1 year-old daughter. She loves music, traveling and trying new things, especially food.

L - Boogie, BWCC Show Host & Ambassador of Inspiration

Lyneshia C. Johnson-Woodland was born and raised in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. She completed courses with Columbia School of Broadcasting in Virginia, as well as with IM4radio Broadcasting Network in Largo, Maryland. She is a former internet radio personality and producer of her own show "The Boogie Spot with L Boogie" Ms. Woodland, also known as Ms. L Boogie, has exceptional talent as a Mistress of Ceremonies for several events in the DMV, comedian, and actress. Her fulfills her civic duties in many roles in the community such as Vice-President of her neighborhood Citizens Association, active member with her local union, member of Greater Saint John Cathedral, a member of the S.H.A.R.E. ministry and the audio ministry along with helping whatever else is needed in the church. Served as a mentor and volunteered with the G.E.M.S. (Girls Empowered to Meet Success) mentoring group and the Girls Scouts of America. She is a Non- Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer Survivor and mother of two, ages 20 and 13.

When we get together and do it collectively that when we're the most powerful.

Tyi Flood, BWCC Show Host & Ambassador of Mental Health

20 year media professional, Tyi Flood began working at an early age alongside various local media companies and radio stations.  She was a host/VJ on many shows such as Mad Flavor TV, and Bob Smoke TV. Then while working in radio operations at CBS Radio, she launched into the podcast realm of broadcasting as a cohost on URScene Radio, which led her to create her own radio show ‘T-Time’ on IM4Radio. After a hiatus, T-Time turned into Flood the Block Radio Show, which was last aired on Ripped Radio Network.  In between time, Tyi simultaneously became a published author and blogger, mental health advocate and founder of The AWE Group, a marketing consultant, and most importantly a dedicated mother.
